Ethel graduated from Lawrence High School in 1957, and later attended South Nassau Community College. Ethel had a long career with Mobil Oil (Exxon-Mobil) in Far Rockaway, NY, and moved to her down digs in Rochdale Village, Queens, N.Y. Ethel had a graceful appearance and was always the “diva” of the party. She was playful, inspiring and extremely generous. Ethel enjoyed dancing and listening to music, and loved to get her “boogie on” in the garage while listening to James Brown’s music. One of her favorite sayings when someone was dressed up was “You are as hot as a 45 caliber - Pow Pow!” On the evening of January 18th 2021 Ethel Stephens-Hardy quietly and peacefully transitioned from this life to rest with the Lord.
